Baking with The Salty Whisk

i have been taking a break from photography in the kitchen. a much needed break for a number of reasons, but mostly because I just really needed a mental health break from the pressure of The sweet and simple kitchen.

to tell you the truth it has been really refreshing. a much needed step away. as much as i’ve been enjoying this step back, I’d be lying if i said i haven’t been missing it too…

so it was really nice to have the opportunity to be a part of someone elses creativity in the kitchen. this is austen’s kitchen. the space where she bakes the most beautiful gourmet homemade cakes on salt spring island. when she asked if i would help photograph her in her element, i could not wait to capture her in action.

this was such a dreamy photshoot and i loved every minute of it. it was so refreshing to watch someone else create beautiful treats in their kitchen. it made me miss baking even more. maybe one day i’ll return to it, but for now i’m enjoying this time a lot and i hope we get to bake together again soon.
